Brand new build today: raptor 74gb drive, vista 64bit sp1rc, 8800gt 512mb, 4gb ram.

If I try to do the "windows experience index" it comes back with great scores for everything apart from video, which gets 1.0

What gives? I installed this driver:

ForceWare Release 169 WHQL
Version: 169.25
Release Date: December 20, 2007
Operating System: Windows Vista 64-bit
Language: U.S. English
File Size: 45.0 MB

Any ideas?

Actually I've just realised that I've not installed any of the drivers that came with my GA-P35-DS4, so I'll go do that and see if that fixes it - been a long time since I did a new built :)

Well if anyone else has this problem try deleting all of the files in C:\Windows\Performance\WinSAT\DataStore, worked for me. Now get 5.5/5.9/5.9/5.9/5.7

First time I've seen this issue come up in the gen hard section. Probably belongs in the OS sections rather than gen hardware as it really is a Vista foible and not really related to hardware specifically.

This may be what Blain was referring to:
http://windowsvistablog.com/bl...ista/pages/458117.aspx - kind of hard to connect references around here sometimes...

Yeah, fair comment, it was supposed to be in the OS section, my mistake!

This is hilarious: "5.0 - 5.9 Top end of the PC market for the Vista time frame."

Er... most PCs you buy now will already be 5 or so, and you don't have to spend much money to get 5.9 (a slight overclock and a 150gb raptor would do it for me I'd wager).

And the vista timeframe? Well going on XP I doubt we'll be seeing a new OS for 5 years at least. I think they underestimated hardware somewhat when they came up with those numbers!

According to Microsoft, we'll be seeing Windows 7, codenamed "Vienna" in 2010 at the earliest. Last year they were quoted as saying it has a standard "three year development cycle". So we may well be seeing betas next year.

Whoops, I'm turning into an OS forum poster ;).
