I got Visiontek GF3 Ti 200 with S-Video out to TV.
But when I hook it up to my Samsung 32inch S-Video input, the picture seems blurry.
Text is unreadable. I use Nvidia Detonator 28.32 WHQL.
How can I make it clear ? I saw on TechTV yesterday when they demonstrate stuff on Computer with TV hook up. The picture is clear.
What kind of resolution should I set it to ?
TIA

There's probably a more viable explanation out there, but I don't know it. Instead, I'll substitute this: your TV isn't of high enough resolution to see all the lines your card is putting out. Basically, I don't know what I'm talking about, but don't worry, the blur is normal.

i would set it to the lowest resolution possible. 640x480 most likely.

what had you been using it at?

I don't think you are suppose to be able to see text on a regular TV.

ALL video cards with "TV-Out" have blurry text. It's just a marketing gimmick. There is not even ONE video card with TV-out that has acceptable (readable) text output. I have a GF2 hooked to my 36" HDTV (@800X600) with a regular 15-pin DIN cable and the text is readable, but not as good as a computer monitor.

Try spending $2000 on an HDTV monitor and you can display text that's not to bad...

I think the res might been at 800x600. I'll try to set it lower next time.
I know it is not gonna be the one like on pc monitor. Just a little more readable.
It's just that when I see it on TechTV, they got their picture somewhat nice and clear. Dunno what their TV spec is.

Well for one, TV set CRTs have ridiculously coarse dot pitch, small text will always be unreadable.
Then, the interlaced nature of the TV signal inherently messes up everything one pixel in height.
Finally, the modulation of color and brightness information onto the same signal also implies a
loss in signal transition sharpness (this is what S-Video avoids).

So you got the horizontal sharpness messed up by the signal definition itself, the vertical detail
blurred by the interlacedness, and everything together made unreadable by the TV set's dot pitch.

TV simply is not made for still pictures, let alone read small text.

HDTV improves the horizontal signal resolution, but that still doesn't mean that HDTV TV sets use
finer dot pitch CRTs. They don't.

:)Its because your t.v. is too big 32inch. for the 800x600 resolution your card is sending to tv.

Well that beats my explanation, thanks, Peter.

I'd bet that TechTV uses an HDTV for their displays, or maybe a plasma screen...don't know for sure, never watched the show.
