Why is my temp so high on control center?

I have a screenshot of my cpu temps in control center, coretemp, and HWMonitor. My cpu temps in HWMonitor and coretemp stay pretty consistent around 50-55 while playing games. In controlcenter my temps will jump as high as 120. Please tell me controlcenter is wrong. I am using the stock heatsink but do plan on upgrading soon.

edit: Controlcenter seems to be reading the correct temps in unison with Coretemp and HWM when I'm not gaming.

Most likely, you need to reseat your processor and re-do the TIM application.
The stock coolers aren't great, but unless you're overclocking, they should do a better job than that.

What are your ambient (room) temps?

room temp is probably around 68. I don't recall any thermal paste comming wth my cpu. Was I supposed to have gotten some? I will probably need to buy some.

Using the stock intel cooler it comes with pre-applied thermal grease. I'm not a guru but wouldn't anything over 98C cause this PC to shut down?

Easy on me I'm still learning ;)

Your system temps seem pretty high. My room temps are in the low 70's and my system temps hang at 29-30.
As for the paste, no, you're right, the stock cooler should have had some TIM pre-applied...but it's not always very good...especially if you don't get the cooler seated correctly. Many folks have problems with the crappy pin set-up they use.
I'd double check to make sure the pins are seated correctly.

Well do you think that control center could be off on the temp readings? I've downloaded like 4 different temp programs and they all read me being constantly below 60c. Only controlcenter, which came with the pc, reads me at extremely high temps.

Makes me wonder if Control Center is using a different number for TJ Max than the others...

You shouldn't be at all surprised when the various software diagnostic programs get differing numbers...

Look at this:

I fired those up minutes ago and took the screen shot for this thread. Notice anything odd? Yep, each one reports a different CPU speed...and although they're within a couple of degrees, they don't all agree on CPU temps either.

I WOULD however, be concerned about reported temps over 80C. That's getting into the worrisome range.
