Why is my printer so slow???

My parents decided to take my photo printer (hp 7550, great printer, loved it) and give me a huge butt ugly hp officejet d135. Although they are similar in speed (according to waht they are rated at), the d135 prints considerably slower. Right now I am printing 15 pages of black text and it took 3 minutes for 8 pages to print on draft mode. WTH?? I uninstalled the drivers for my old printer. Even tried reinstalling the drivers for the d135. Still prints like my hp 500 from 8 years ago.

Try going into the BIOS and set the PPort to ECP +EPP so it'll run DMA on an IRQ

That doesnt work....its connected via USB, not parallel. And anyway my BIOS does not have ECP+EPP as an option.
