i'm using a Radeon 7500 on a Gateway FPD1500 LCD monitor. my video gamma is on default, but i have to turn up the monitor brightness almost to the max. when i play CS, i have to turn the game gamma all the way up, as well as increase the gamma on my video card. i'm pretty sure its my video card because i have the same experience using different monitors. i used to have an ati radeon 64mb on a 19" viewsonic e790 CRT and i still have the same probs. can someone help me out please?

Hmmm.

When playing Return to Castle Wolfenstein, the Radeon All in Wonder on my primary machine has darker images than that of the Geforce 2 MX on my brother's machine.

I think that is expected. Maybe different T and L?

I use Powerstrip to change gamma settings on the fly with the hot keys. Ctrl+Alt+(+or-keys on the number keys) You can change the gamma during the game so when you are in a dark room just use the hot keys to brighten up the room. Great for multiplayer games, gives you a bit of an edge in some games. Works on windows desktop to.

Just adjust the brightness/gamma levels in the game and in the Radeon's driver control panel.

It's nothing to do with T&L.

so thats just how my vidcard's supposed to be?

my roommate has brightness/contrast on his e790 at about halfway and its way brighter than any of the vidcard/monitor combinations i've tried.

my CS gamma is all the way up, and my monitor brightness is all the way up, and i still have to turn my vidcard gamma up. does that make sense?

No, leave your monitor at normal brightness levels. Just raise the game gamma and the control panel gamma.
