Why is my Optorite DVD-RW DD0203 not being detected properly by WINXP?

Here's the deal, hopefully someone can help: I have WIN XP Pro running and also a DD0203. Lately, I've been booting up and the Windows will tell me that it's found new hardware: "OPTNRHTD DVD RV DD0203" then it asks for a driver to continue. Sometimes I'll reboot and Windows will detect it properly and not even prompt me for a driver. But there are times when I either have to install a driver (what driver?) or I can't use my drive. Why is it asking for a driver and why does it work fine sometimes and not others?

TIA

what nforce drivers are you using/>

try the newer ones. make sure to create a restore point.
try older ones.

i had that problem, windows asking for drivers for my DVDRW and CDRW. I re ran the nforce drivers and it solved my problems.
