Why is my new Athlon CPU and fan making funny noises!?!?!?

I just ordered a brand new in box 1200MHz Athlon from newegg.com and set up my system. When I turned it on today, I heard the cpu fan making noise as if it was grinding against the plastic. Should a brand new processor fan do this? I don't want to send my whole processor and hsf back to replace it... What do I do?

BTW after around five minutes the fan noise goes away.

Is this an OEM or AMD boxed processor?

AMD attaches fan 4u & has 3yr warrantee. OEM, buy another fan/heat sync.

Also, my computer makes alot a noise, too; however, it's not the CPU fan, but the
chipset fan Abit KT7. I guess my point is before u go and pull the thing apart make sure
your fixing the correct fan: CPU fan, Case fan, Video Card fan, Chipset fan.

most likely it's the fan...you got a coolermaster i think? Cuz my friend ordered the same thing from newegg.com...he did a janky job installing the HSF...trying to use all of his hands and fingers to slap that sucker in and bent one of the fins on the fans...so when it spins...you hear that noise that u described. You need a new fan or HSF.
