Why is my internet lagging/disconnecting while playing wc3 frozen throne

my roomate is playing the same game in another room, could that be why, or is the problem the network as a whole, and it doesn't have to do with anything local? im using verizon fios. perhaps a lot of people are on at this time in my neigborhood, and that is why?. Also, would upgrading the fios speed remedy this? at what cost?

and we got someone playing xbox live too who has lag complaints

Some games will not let you play multiple sessions online on the same IP address.

If your game does let you, then make sure UPnP is ENABLED on your router.

As for lag, what router are you using, and what is your connection speed?

the router is the one verizon provided upon instatlation, it has fios on it. not sure what my speed is, i think it's the default most basic speed
