why is my e-mail address banned at anandtech

i was trying to register with anandtech and when submitted the information, it said that my e-mail address was banned at anandtech. how is this possible tody was the first time i had ever heard of or used anandtech?

i was alos looking for someone at anandtech to contact and ask, but found nothing.

any help is appreciated

DRGrim is right, some email services are banned here, such as AOL, hotmail and others.
From what I understand there were problems with some users of these services, and the moderators weren't able to get any help from the ISP's.:frown:
Because of these problems, and the lack of needed help in dealing with these issues, they banned the entire ISP.
Unfortunately a few bad ones ruined for all the others.
Don't worry I doubt it's anything personal. 😉
 
I personally found having to give out my most personal email address just to join this forum both necessary and resentful. I own accounts on many of the free email services and realize the use of spamming is uncontrollable. There must be a better way. Simply throught the use of their security measures, I do not expect any spam from Anandtech or those people it associates with. However, it still kind of sucks. I have to assume someone has access to all our email and as is human, money talks. One day we may all be sent a porn address "we just can't miss", thanks to Anandtech. True, I could have just not signed up. But I found the forums of high quality. I hope someone could shoot out a response to coddle any fears I might have about future happenings. Since your e-mail address is not visible in your profile how, exactly, do you think that will happen?

I never said it was visible, I only speculated that somewhere, someone may have access to it.I Understand the difference to my previous post. As I said before, I am new to the forum and am unaware of the access some have to the addresses required to login as a member. Junior as I may be.

Thank you Mod for your undersdtanding. As ill-informed as it may have been.

The only people who have access to it are the Administrators and Moderators.

That was my whole point. I was just making it clear that people are drawn to money. People are willing to pay allot of money for lists that some on this site have access to.. Obviously no one has done anything with these to date, but it is always a possibility. I do not forsee it happening. Obviously becoming and Admin. or Mod. takes some time and trust.

Then again, what are most all wars fought about? Land and Money. There could be corruption. That is all I was trying to get across. I wasn't trying to get into an argument.
