Why is my DVD player not recognizing my new 3TB drive?

I have 2 different models of LG DVD/Bluray players that play media from USB. I have been using a couple of Samsung 2TB drives on blacx docks (NTFS formatted) and the LG players recognize them just fine and play my media just fine.

I decided to upgrade to a 3TB drive (Toshiba Canvio 3TB from BestBuy). I stripped all the bloatware and hidden files and there doesn't appear to be any hidden software running or booting. It is pre-formatted with NTFS.

As far as I can tell, there is no difference between the 2TB and 3TB drive.

And yet, the LG players aren't even seeing the 3TB drive.

I have read in the past that Western Digital 3TB drives have some sort of advanced formatting. How can I tell if there is advanced formatting? Is this for all 3TB drives including Toshiba? Is that why the DVD players aren't recognizing my 3TB drive?

Should I reformat the 3TB drive and if so, with what settings in windows 7?

Most likely, the firmware of those units don't support anything higher than 2TB.
You might be able to partition the 3TB into 2 1.5TB partitions, and that might work.
