Why is my cpu temp so high?

I have an akasa silver mountain with my tbird 1.4. i've overclocked it to 1596 mhz and am also using as2

right now idling, my cpu temp is about 48 degrees celsius

why would my temperature be so high?
my hsf isn't even warm at all

Probably the typical inaccurate socket thermistor. 48C is nothing to be worried about.

Ok, now I closed my case and genome at home is running
I'm getting 58 degrees C

I know that the temperature is ok, but why isn't it lower?
I have a sunon fan in the front and another case fan in the back...

you checked to see if your fan is functioning properly.... is it warm in your room? 75+ F ?

yea the fan is running fine, a black label delta
my room is pretty cold actually, but the computer warms it up a little bit

to much artic silver will have higher temps as well
