Why is my centered timings option grayed out

I've been using 9.6 Cats on Vista since i got my HD 4890, & my very vital "Centered Timings" option has been working just great.

But i've recently installed Windows 7, & updated to Catalyst 9.9, & now on my HD 4890 & HD 4350 with three different LCDs (using DVI), "Centered Timings" is grayed out; i cannot select it.

Can anyone with 7 & an HD 4000 series card check if it's working for them?

I heard the other day there was some kind of bug with this...I think it doesn't show up when you're in native resolution maybe?

From what I remember the option wasn't working very good so ATi disabled it until Win7 goes retail. I guess we'll get the option back in the November drivers?

If it's a 7 thing, i'm going back to Vista.

Frickin' retardedness if that's the case :(

Win7 retails this week, ATi will probably launch 9.10s the same day? I'm sure they're not foolish enough to leave this feature out of their drivers as it was a major thing back when it was first introduced (not to mention nVidia had it running for so much longer it wasn't funny). I'm personally not using it, but remember I had a few old games that I didn't want to stretch fully (and it was handy then). As a consolidation, I think it's locked to stretch but keep aspect ratio for now - I'd say the preffered way.

Well it keeps aspect ratio yes, but there's one specific game i do not run 2560x1600.
I run it 2048x1536 "Centered", which is exactly perfect.

Having it expanded not pixel mapped looks like shit :frown:

You could try using PowerStrip to make a custom resolution ( 2128x1596 ), but I'm not sure if your monitor will try to scale it.

Recently I played again Freedom Fighters which only runs 4/3 ratio and I created a 1440x1080 resolution with PowerStrip, which works nice with my Full HD monitor.
