Why is my case still LOUD!?

I'm running the CPU with a fanless ninja, I even switched the antec tri-cools with yate loons. Yet my setup is still pretty loud. What is going on, I want quiet! ahhh
 
The best way to quiet your computer is to figure out what's making the most noise. Get a decibel meter, and do the following - start unplugging your fans and other devices one by one (unplug the hard drives when the computer is off). Isolate the loudest components (they'll produce the biggest drop in SPL), then deal with them.

In your case, I'd think that your hard drives or your PSU might be the problem.
 
Video card
Hard drive(s)
Optical drive(s)
Power supply
Chipset fan


All causes of noise you may not expect.
 
seems like the video card fan to me? chipset fan maybe? replace them. get a zalman vf700, and some chipset cooler.
 
Sound is subjective. I'd like to see a decibel reading first before I'd give an opinion. Some folks cant stand so much as a whisper and I find that strange. Not saying this is the case here but I'd like to see what the decibel reading is first.
 
not getting detailed info .. I would guess chipset or Videocard cooler is making a fair amount of noise. and Possibly Powersupply.

The hard drives are rubber isolated so... You are probably no getting a constant noise from them.
 
Granted, some sounds are more irritating than others. Rosie O'Donnel on a bad day would
have me running away. To find a solution for a silent working world you will have to do
some serious homework over at www.silentpcreview.com.

To post and flee doesn't seem to work well here.

For a PSU, I got the SEASONIC S12.

As for the drives, they are all mounted with rubber gromets and are VERY silent.

I just figured the P180 would dull the noise from four yate loons, especially since I'm running the heatsink fanless.
 
you need to isolate the noise and figure out which fan(s) is causing the noise. after you have done that, then you can replace the fans with aftermarket ones.

why do you need 4 yate loons? all you need is the one exhaust fan on the back panel of the computer. the hard drives in the psu bay can be cooled by the psu fan. a fan in the blow-hole on top doesn't add to cooling performance. be sure to tape up the vents in the back around the power supply and along the expansion cards because they detract from cooling. put one of those yate loons on the scythe and you'll be good to go.

Undervolt the 120's...they are quiet, but true silence can only be achieved when 120's spin at ~800rpm's or less.....atleast to my ears....Try this--> Block off top vent, use 4 Yates (front (intake), bottem chamber (intake), mount 1 on your Ninja, and rear exhaust...undervolt/fan controller/speedfan (what I use) the Yates to ~800rpm and see what you think. What gfx cooler you using?
 
The front intake fan might be your source of noise. Seems to be a generally bad location for a fan, depending on where your P180 is standing. I know I cant stand having a fan there even if its running at very low speed. It even seems to make more noise there than it does in the back or top location.

So I went for top and rear fan. The only difference in temperature is like 1-2°C higher on the GPU and chipset under full load.. ah well, they're both low enough anyway. Might not work with a passive CPU HS though.
 
You could try the 7volt trick on the fans, or if you don't like that, then wire 2 fans in series, effectively 6v each...
 
I have a P160 which is part of the Antec Quiet Computing line. The loudest item on my machine is definately the video card. Too bad my XFX 4900XT has glued on heat sinks otherwise I would have thrown in a Zalman VF700 VGA cooler. Also, you may want to ditch your chipset fan for a heatsink. I also recently purchased a Vantec 3.5" fan contoller panel to play around with the fan speed.
