Why is my AMD 1.4Ghz shown as 1333 at startup???

I built a system with a 1.4Ghz 266fsb thunderbird and an Asus A7M266 (BIOS revision 1003). When the system starts, it reports the CPU being 1333 instead of 1400. Could this just be that the motherboard doesnt report anything higher than 1333, but the chip is running at 1400, or is my CPU actually only running at 1333??

If it says 1333, your running at that speed. Is there a later bios that says it supports 1.4ghz cpu's? If there is, get that one, and you'll be set, or you can like manually adjust the speed.

ya, make sure you change the cpu ratio (multiplier setting on the mobo). Mine was read at 1.015GHz and when i adjusted the multiplier it was read fine at 1.4GHz. Also get the latest bios.
