Why is my 3DMark2001 score (5518) so LOW on a GF4 4200 64meg?

i'm using the default 1024x768x32bit, no AA.

i have a celeron 950MHz, 512megs ram. Is a score of 5518 normal for a Celeron 950?

Based upon my experience with the Celerons, this is a very respectable score.

If you really want your performance to jump, you will need to give the card a better supporting staff, i.e. Athlon XP or high end P4.

hows my score? sounds low to me. i know it it kinda irrelivant but i want to make sure i have no bottle necks in my new system

specs:
Athlon XP 2100
512mb samsung pc2700 ddr 333
MSI geforce 4 ti 4400
western digital SE 80gig
gigabyte 7vrxp (the newer one)

3d mark 2100 se: 10180

all hardware is currently at default

i have the lastest offical nvidia drivers, not the ones that tweak your 3dmark score ;)
didn't upgrade 4in 1s as i was under the impression that windows xp came with them built it

so as i have a beasty antec case, i'll prob try someover clocking which should improve things abit

There is your answer right there. You need a faster CPU (~1.4 GHz +) to use the full power of this card. With an Athlon XP or P4, you should expect around 10,000 Marks, maybe more. This is an ok score for a Celeron 950.

you think that's bad?

i only get about 7500 if i am lucky with my geforce 4 Ti4200 64mb, yet i have a shuttle SS51G with a pentium 4 2.0AGhz CPU and 256mb crucial PC2100 ddr ram.

i have checked on madonion.com and i have seen people with very similar spec machine getting around 3000 points higher than me.

figure that out

Not a bad score with your CPU. The CPU is definatley what's holding you back right now.
