Why is my 3dMark03 score so low?

My 3d mark score is in the low 4000's with the specs in my sig and the fsb upped to 210. By looking at their database most other people with similar systems have scores in the 6000-7000 range. Is there something I can do to optimize performance that I am missing out on? Why are there scores so much higher than mine?

Perhaps THEIR scores are higher because they have AA and filtering turned off by default. Or perhaps you have a tonne of spyware and other sh!t running in the background.

I get 5780 and my system is almost identical to yours. What OS are you running ? What else is running while you run this ? What drivers are you running ? Was the install with the video card done from a fresh format, or upgraded from an Nvidia card ?

Edit: I can't get the link to work but you can find it by doing a search for mootcher@aol.com with a score of 4064.

Does that link work? I don't think I have spyware b/c I just built this PC a week ago. Note that I have not registered/paid for 3DMARK03 if that has any effect on anything. I'm running XP home. My 9800 Pro has Cat 4.4's and these are the only drivers I have installed for video ever on this machine.

Something else is wrong. I have another Radeon 9800 pro at stock (a refurb I just got) running stock on a stock XP2700 that gets 5200.

There has got to be something wrong, but I have no idea what. Check for spyware and all the latest patches and drivers for the motherboard and Windows. Somebody else said they updated motherboard drivers, and their score jumped way up.

Does upgrading mobo drivers mean flashing bios because I don't feel comfortable doing that. What do you guys use to get rid of your spyware? I use ad-aware, is that sufficient? This is not the full registered version so my 3DMark settings are locked. They are as follows:

Tests
Game Test 1: Selected
Game Test 2: Selected
Game Test 3: Selected
Game Test 4: Selected
CPU Tests: 2 of 2
Feature Tests: 5 of 5
Sound Tests: 3 of 3

Settings
Resolution 1024 x 768
Pixel Processing: None
Texture Filtering: Optimal
Max. Anisotropy: 4
Vertex Shaders: Optimal
Repeat Tests: Off
Fixed Framerate: Off

spybot.com. And for bios flash, that may help, but what the other person I read about did, was update the chipset drivers for the ASUS motherboard, and their settings jumped. I will look for the post and update this if I find it.
