Why is my 3DMark 2001 SE score so low?

Is that video card able to do it better?
Anyway, this bench is VERY CPU dependent, maybe thats why. Have you had any ATI before? If so, maybe a conflict with drivers. Also, try the latest Detonator.

i dunno
my radeon 8500 on a similar setup (slower ram) was getting around 9k points
id say try the latest detonators as well
then again, what do those scores matter....see if it will play games well enough to satisfy you and dont bother with teh benchmark scores

No, I never had an ATI card before. Plus, the settings were at 1024 x 768, and when I put it down to 800 x 600, my score increased to 3400. What a bunch of crap. I have the latest driver installed, installed it yesteday.

You should be getting around 6000-6500 for that setup. You have something going wrong.

You might try and see if the latest mobo drivers help.

This is a bunch of crap, I'm pretty sure I downloaded all of the updates and I have the latest bios for my motherboard.

That can't be though, look at Cow123's link. It skips the same test as me and his score is close to mine.

Actually, scoring 6500 is quite possible with a GF2. Ever check the results on futuremarks website? There are some 32 people scoring over 6500 with a GF2 variant.

He should make sure he turns off FSAA and AF. Drops my 3DM01 score from around 14,000 to 8,000 (don't quote me on that) but it makes a HUGE difference, especially with that old of a card.

I had roughly the same system about a year ago, and was scoring 4500 - 5000 so there is definately something wrong. When in doubt: format!

Absolutely right. My dads system is s a xp1900+/512mb/gf2 mx400 64mb. He was scoring around 1300marks on 3d2k1se, and I thought something was wrong. I tinkered and tweaked everything I could think of and couldn't get it up more than 50marks or so. Pulled a ti4400 out of my backup system and dropped it in, reinstalled the 44.03 dets and BAM 11500 marks. Then of course back to the gf2, fresh install of drivers and back to 1300!

A $150 9600pro would net this guy at least a 10,000mark increase and make it feel like a new system. I would start saving $ today!

I used to have a GeForce2 GTS ultra on a P4 2.66 ABIT IT7-MAX2 and it did 7500 easily on 3Dmark 2001.

I would check your CPU temps... Check open programs. Test for spyware and such... Use latest detonator... Set to Highperformance mode, FSAA off completely... Run in 1024X768 mode... Check your standard benchmarks to find bottleneck, like running Sisoft Sandra and benchmarking each portion, CPU, mem, HDD... Check BIOS settings... Post your Sisoft marks so others can compare to what you should see. Give as much information as you can...

Hope something helps...

A GF2 PRO/GTS and a GF2 MX400 aren't even in the same ballpark. A GF2 MX400 has a Pixel Fill-Rate of 350 MPixel/s while the GF2 Pro has a Pixel Fill-Rate of 800 MPixel/s. Can't compare those two cards for scores.

There's a huge difference between a gf2 mx400 64mb and a gf2 GTS pro. I can probably draw 3d graphics faster than the mx by hand. That definetely isn't a valid comparaison.

Well you must be some sort of 3DMark genius considering the highest 2.66 P4 + GF2 combo currently in the ORB only scores 62xx. You can beat it by a full 20% right?

Well, now I scored 4477 woohoooo!

Cpu running at 1671MHz and ram timings are 2-2-2-10
Ram and CPU running sync at 166MHz.

Thats still such a LOW score though!!!! How are people with the same setup as me, getting way higher score then me? They're getting over 6000 points and look at my score!!!

Being that I am in the CPU/Processors and OVERCLOCKING thread------ What in the world made you think for one second that in any recent time in my many years of computer usage would I have possibly left that system to run at stock speeds? I ask you 3Dmark Genius? to look up what a Geforce 2 Ultra 64MB card was ever capable of scoring with any computer combination... Don't bother genius I will show you.... Taken right from 3Dmark2001 scores - with a 2116mhz no less.... Problem is, no one cares that they ever scored higher with a Geforce2 ultra, so they dont bother posting it anymore. Check your facts correctly before you correct... UMMM UMMMM Well you must be some sort of 3DMark genius considering......ORB only scores 62xx......... Blah.....

Score: 7264 GF2 Ultra Power :)

did you check to make sure that you pulled your image quality down? You should at least be getting around 4k.

A score that low wouldn't be because of his CPU unless he was running a Pentium 166.

No... that's some bad advice.

Since you didn't say what you did to get around 4000 3DMarks, I'll assume you did nothing, and tell you what I would do...

1.) Defragment the hard drive
2.) Turn off all background applications like AIM, Yahoo, Real Player, SETI, etc.
3.) Turn off Anti-Aliasing and Ansiotropic Filtering
4.) Set the slider to Performance, not High Performance or Quality
5.) Turn off vsync
6.) Run Prime95 or another CPU intensive task to stress your CPU and RAM to make sure it's stable
7.) Set 3DMark back to it's defaults... change NOTHING

Jeff, The hard drive has nothing to do with the total 3d mark 01' score. How long each game loads does not affect your total score. But having a defragmented hd is always nice.

Having a defragmented hard drive never hurt anything.
