Why is music prefrence by gender?

It seems to me that men end up buying male artists more then female, and vise versa. Why is this?

Do you guys/gals, follow the same sterotype?

Because most female artists suck. It has nothing to do with the fact that they are female. No Doubt was pretty good back in the day though...

It's the other way around for me. Most the songs I listen to are 95% female.

Metal, trance, country, polka, pop punk, bubblegum pop, goth music, etc....
