Why is MSI P35 Plat so unpopular?

I've been going through different forums looking for opinions about this board and I see very little, yet all the reviews on the major sites show spectacular benchmarks.

The one hiccup I see is that it, like the Biostar, had some early BIOS issues that "seem" to have been ironed out (as I surmise from latest from Newegg comments). The better OC'ing version (rev. 1.1) seems to still fly under radar.

Features look good and performance looks good. Stability (recently) looks good.

So what gives?

I didn't realize it was. I believe most are going with Abit, Asus, or Gigabyte p35 boards.

Sometimes small "hiccups" can mean big problem on a long run by user. When they say BIOS issue, it scares people. Not all people are familiar on flashing BIOS, you would see lot of people bricked their mobo because of wrong flashing or they don't know what they have to do.
Even if MSI create another revision of their board, people will still think "do i get the last revision or will i have issue with this board" ? Because of too much question on doubting something while there are lots of choice, people will choose another means choose another brand.

IMO, MSI is a good mobo maker, i can still compare them to Asus or Gigabyte or Abit on its performance, reliability and most important price. If one day i have limited money and MSI has the same specs as other, i wouldn't doubt to buy it.

Yeah. Its really strange. As I'm shopping around, I narrowed my choice down to either Abit IP35 Pro and the MSI. Since I'm thinking of connecting the new rig to a LAN with a HTPC through a Gb switch, the PCI on the Abit really bothered me. At this pricerange, the MSI seemed like a good fit. But zero opinions, except those on Newegg which, no offence intended, are sometimes biased or incomplete.

I agree. But after my nightmare with the ASUS P4s8x (a long time ago), I've learned to seek real user's honest opinions about a specific MB before diving in. :)

You may want to visit the MSI forums if you haven't already. You can usually find out if there is an issue with a product pretty quickly.

That's in fact what I did but didn't really see much aside from the scattered posters seeking help here and there. Most posts also only bring up specific problems not general discussions about the merits of a board or specific successes and good experiences from actual owners. Since AT was full of serious users, I guess I kinda expected something along those lines here.

If the dearth of posts about bad experiences is any indication, maybe I might try my luck with it (I'm buying in about 2 weeks at the beginning of Nov)....

Thanks for the tip.
