Why is motorcycle exhaust so excessive?

Purely subjective. I personally can't stand it when someone comes by with a loud aftermarket exhaust and blips the throttle. Give them a noise pollution ticket already. Stock is too loud, aftermarket is just ridiculous.

Stock exhaust on any modern bike, even a Harley, is not very loud. Definitely not too loud.

Stop crying here if you don't like the noise and contact your local government to do something about it. If enough people agree with you, something will get done.

You can't make everyone happy no matter what you do. This thread is a perfect example of people trying to impose their overly sensitive sensibilities on the public as a whole.

A richer mix also makes less power than a leaner one. 😛

Not completely true. The Revolution engine Harley puts in V-Rods produce better mid range power with a rich mixture (13.9 to 1). WOT is just under 13 to 1 from the factory. I don't know why that is, but I've seen at least a dozen dyno sheets that prove it beyond any doubt.

WOT tunes are richer so pistons don't melt.

Oh, so I'm the one whose doing the imposing now? 😵 Talk about some twisted logic... D: And your concept of perfection is up your ass. I'll counter... you come off as a perfect idiot.

I personally think there should be more strict rules (and enforcement) regarding aftermarket exhausts and how loud they can be. Both for cars and bikes. My neighbor's son has a Civic with an exhaust so loud I can hear him start his car up from across the street while I'm inside my house with all the doors and windows closed.
