well, the polls have been closing, the average is now down to a 4.5 point lead for Obama, from 6+ just a couple of days ago.

Trends are making this a much closer race.
only if you are selectively picking and choosing your polls. the fivethirtyeight.com super tracker shows no such divergence.
He's just speaking empathetically for mccain. It's a repug trait. Always defend a fellow repug even when they're wrong.

hmmm, you seem so unbiased
Yes, I look at the numbers, suspend disbelief and give the cheer "mccain's winning".

The recent 'meet the press' performance was distressing. If I didn't know he was a sell-out, I'd feel sorry for him.
This.

If he came out and said look I know Palin is actually a total fvckup and I apologize for this joke of a campaign, please forgive me, I'd have mad respect for that.

Does anybody think McCain is inviting Palin over for Thanksgiving dinner this year?

never said McCain was winning. In fact I think Obama wins the election. I'm just pointing out the polls are closing some and I don't think it will be the absolute blowout(350+) some are predicting.

WRONG

LOL @ Fox news showing McCain +19! Here in Texas, I am surrounded by people who are voting for McCain or who already have. I just like sitting here in my cube knowing that most of them have no idea that McCain is not winning. Actually, it's fairly red-necky over here and I desperately am trying to GTFO!

your picking the wrong gallop poll, the one you are using takes the same voter breakdown from last election and applies it to this one, it basically holding everything else constant and subbing mccain for gwb and obama for kerry.

as we all know, alot has changed since 2004

the same will hold true though.

I'm not bothering as much with the actual numbers as much as the trends. THe past week the expanded gallup poll has gone from Obama +10 to Obama +7.

Polls are all over the place but the past week has been a small trend to a close race. We will see.

And as I mentioned in a thred earlier today but nobody responded to (tear), many votes hve already been cast--1/5th of Georgia--a million people in GA alone--have already voted. Even if McCain pulls to a dead heat with Obama he still loses assuming early voters were at all echoing the polls when they voted.

There is no reasonable chance for McCain now.

I tend to agree with you. To be honest I've always considered 5 points about the largest margin of victory possible in our current political climate. The electorate is so polarized, there just aren't that many people that switch back and forth.

Yep, as it is now is about as big as one could really have expected.
