Also get it when I launch some apps. Apparently when McAfee tries to scan them. It crashes.

Everything worked fine until I DLed Exact Audio Copy .9 prebeta and extracted it into it's own file. This is a stand alone program.
The other thing I did is install a CD Burner. No software for it yet.
Other than that...nothing different.

Any ideas?

PS...The McAfee viruscan is part of McAfee Office.

indeed. mcafee has been horrible to deal with. many of my friends' computers came bundled with it, and it was nothing but trouble. i steered them all to norton in due time. not that i particularly like norton the company. just that NAV has been the least problematic in my experience (i've had a few bad experiences, but not many).

I use VirusScan 4.5SP1 in a corporate environment, and I've had very few problems with it; all were solved by DAT updates or a cursory search through VirusScan's message boards...

My site was the only one in my company to have weekly autoupgrades configured for all PCs, giving users the latest engine, virus defs, etc. Not so coincidentally, mine was the only site that did not propagate the I love you, NakedWife, Melissa, etc. infections.

I didn't like v5.x Consumer version at all, though.

Is there any way to uninstall McAfee Viruscan without screwing up the HD and having to reformat/reinstall?
