Why is Maxtor the only company with 300GB hard drives?

Everytime I look for hdds, Maxtor is the only company that makes 300GB drives. Why don't Hitachi, Seagate, or WD make 300 GB drives?

I've got some serious hdd space issues with my single 250GB External Maxtor storage drive. :(

True, looks like two WD 250GBs are cheaper than a single 400GB drive as well. I really need a 400GB+ external USB 2 or 1394 hdd for my notebook though. I don't have enough room to carry two 250s as carry on luggage when I go home on the holidays. :(

If you rip a hell of a lot of movies and games or run a web server. Even though msot would rather have scsi's on raid.
