Last night I upgraded from Macrium Reflect free 6.3 to 7.2. Normally my images with verification go pretty quick but last night it took an hour. Did they slow the free version down or is there a setting that is different in this version? The only thing I see might be in Other Tasks - Edit defaults - Verify File System where the Verify File System before backup option is ticked. I'm not sure if this is default or I ticked this by accident thinking it was Verify Image or Backup file directly after creation which I want ticked. Any ideas as to what is going on?

I was imaging a 63GB Windows 8.1 SSD install to a 7200rpm 64MB cache 1TB HDD.

I'm fixin to have my automagic backup run here any minute. Once it pops up I'll check my settings. I hadn't changed anything. I am also running v7.2 to do a diff backup on a 500G RAID 1 SSD (approx 90Gb used)

I noticed yesterday it was taking FOREVER on 'consolidating blah blah blah'. I wanted to get my BF V on, so I cancelled it lol. I dunno, maybe it's part of the schedule.....I'll check that part out too

Edit/Update:
I checked the defaults, 'verify file system' is indeed checked

It's started now......fluctuating between 15 mins and 10 hours lol.

macrium defaults.PNG

macrium job 3.PNG

macrium job 4.PNG

macrium job 5.PNG

This may help.......it may not lol

Good luck. I've been using Macrium I'd say for almost 5 years.......I got no complaints

33% done - 16 mins remaining.......go figure lol

Another Edit: completed in about 35 mins

Thank you. Knowing it's a default option helps a bunch. Although I rarely image I've never had an issue with Macrium until now. The first part of image one of my HDD's in my PC was making an annoying sound every so often which is weird considering I imaged to an external drive connected via a front USB 3.0 port.

Using HDDs? Backup imaging going slower than usual, along with "funny noises" from HDDs? I don't want to scare you, but you could be developing some hardware.

easy enough to check. Look in Mr. Event Viewer...that should tell you :)
Ok. So I just upgraded to windows 10 and made an image before driver install. C: drive is 51GB and the image took 10:52 with image verification on. The only setting I changed in this new macrium install was to included image verification. Go figure. I have no idea why my last image took so long.
