I read the following article and got a little upset.

Story on Big Ben

That was a pretty cold article...while Ben didn't play well, he still had a great season, the Steelers vastly outperformed expectation in part to Ben's very good season and, in the end, the Steelers lost to a superior team (I picked the Pats to win by 14).

I can accept Phil Sims or Boomer or Marino or some other 'good' ex-pro commentator sticking it to an NFL player...but some fat slob who couldn't run forty yards even if he was chasing a krispy kreme truck, probably can't throw a football any better than my grandmother, etc. should measure his words more carefully IMO.

Out of all the possible people ESPN.com could get to write football column's they pick Pasquarelli...why!?

Couldn't they find someone who actually played football well in college or the pro's to write a decent segment? Sheesh.

Oh...and the answer is 42.:D

And Manning had how many INT's & near INT's in his game against NE?

I really didn't see anything out of line. BR hasn't performed well the last couple of games after having a good start. He threw three INTs against the Pats, one of which was returned for a TD.

Which line of Pasquarelli's was upsetting?

"For all the talk of Roethlisberger's slump and the reasons for it -- the rumor that he was playing with a sprained thumb on his throwing hand, concerns about him wearing gloves on both hands last week, worries that defenses had caught up to him -- what betrayed the youngster the most in the final month of the season and in his two postseason games was the deterioration of his mechanics.
...

Roethlisberger abandoned the glove on his right hand on Sunday and that certainly did not make things any better. Fact is, another more celebrated entertainer, that Michael Jackson guy, wears just one glove. And he couldn't have thrown the ball much worse at times Sunday than did Roethlisberger, who had five interceptions and three touchdown passes in his two exposures to playoff football.

You think the five interceptions were bad? If Samuel had any kind of hands, the number of picks thrown by Roethlisberger would have been much worse. Asante had four passes defensed and three times the second-year veteran dropped what should have been interceptions.

_______________

The mechanics comment, the Michael Jackson comment, the last pharagraph pasted above...

Ben's mechanics were/are fine
Brady also only wore one glove...and aside from that, why draw a correlation to MJ...is he saying Ben played like a fairy or something?
The interception chances that Samuel had were not Ben's fault...Burress and Ward failed to come back to football and make a play on the ball (i.e. go to the ball and snatch it, don't wait for a basket catch...that's High School WR 101).

Anyway...Pasq. talks about all this crap like he's 'taking his pads off' when in fact he could never play or coach at QB. He does that crap a lot.

AFAIK he has never played any sport at a college or pro level...can anyone confirm or deny?

Pasquarelli is one of the best sports writers in the business. He's also a Steeler fan. I'm a Steeler fan and he's RIGHT. Ben's mechanics have been off for a few weeks, he did not play well against the Jets or against the Patriots. Some of those throws he made yesterday were downright TERRIBLE. The ball he threw that Harrison took back for a TD was AWFUL. Ben had a FANTASTIC season, and so did the entire team. He still stunk it up yesterday.

WTF does it matter if he played sports? Chris Mortensen didn't, John Clayton didn't. Since when do you have to have played a sport to be able to report on what happens?
