Recognizable brand name.

Also, their lower lines are cheaper and decent.

? They aren't famous for making their own scotch. They are famous for being able to choose scotch to blend together better than anyone else.

It takes quite a talent to blend scotch together in a pleasing manner. You can't just mix 5 random bottles of scotch and come out with a winner.

however in general Single malt > Blend

I agree that a single malt is better than a blend, but blends are more consistent in taste year to year.

Anyway, JW is popular due to marketing, and having a decent and very consistent product.

Don't they own Glenlivet or one of the big, well-known single malts? Can't remember which one.

It's cheap enough and smooth enough to drink regularly.

I like to drink almost every night before bed so I can't afford a good single malt scotch consistently.

Not comparable.

Blended scotch is fine as far as it goes, but each single malt scotch has a unique character on top of a fine scotch flavor (if they're any good).

Monster cable does not individually accent the information, if it did it wouldn't be any good.

Choose better analogies, please.

Are you joking?

It's my opinion. Single malts and monster cables might be better than blended and normal cables, but I really don't think they are worth the extra cost.

No, it's a blend including a single malt (Talisker). Drambuie does something similar, maybe it's them I'm thinking of that own one of the big single malt names.

I like Cutty Sark. Cheap and gets me just as drunk as JW. :) I have an unopened bottle of JW blue for nearly 10 years now. Waiting for a very special occasion to open that baby!
