Did you go to the add-ons page in Firefox itself and enable the Java plugin there?

Java might like Firefox while Firefox doesn't feel the same way at all.

"Java Console 6.0.xx is not compatible with Firefox 7.0.1" is the message that I always get.

Install the 32-bit Java plugin. You are trying to use a 64-bit plugin with a 32-bit browser.

Yup, I had this issue just last week. I guess you can install both versions of java if you need to, because I needed the 64bit for a game and the 32bit for the browser. They work fine together.

Yes, they will install side-by-side.
