That when ever your opinion is different from anyone elses on the board you are critisized. If you aren't part of the majority you are shunned and you are still wrong. Your opinion on the topic may be wrong as all hell, but yet it doesn't get any respect because it differs from the majority. Due to my thread the other day I've still heard many things in other threads that I've posted. I'm sorry I don't agree with you, I don't go into your threads and crap on them because your opinion varied from mine. I used to like being here at anandtech, and now that I hate it I'm sure that the MAJORITY will all be happy when I say:

I will no longer be returning to this forum after this thread falls.

P.S. - you're welcome.

I agree, I cant say anything about religion or the US foreign policy without people critizing me as a person instead of critizing my views. It stinks :(

Your posts are rarely well thought out topics of discussion, designed to create dialogue from both sides of the table. They're flamebait, proclaiming that religion sucks. Or the US sucks. Or whatever your topic dujour is.

Common... where is GF and LOB? What.... are they getting lazy on me? they haven't crapped this thread yet...

Because people need to have this feeling of importance and attention that they do not get in real life.
You can easily sit behind your dual 21" monitors and critisize and flame all day. But most won't if you strip that barrier away and toss them in a room.
Also a easy place to vent.

You answered your own question:

When I have posted these threads I have nearly always been linking to a news article that I found interesting about a certain subject, wether it is religion, us foreign policy or something else. People then start to argue, you might call news articles flaimbate and in a way they are because it is the same as politics, talking about what is happening and what can be done. In politics there are extremers like here, we are just people with different views.

Um, it's criticized.

Common... where is GF and LOB? What.... are they getting lazy on me? they haven't crapped this thread yet...

There, now you can't say I am not dependable.

You have to admit you posted some radical views, if you tell people you think their loved ones don't deserve to live you're gonna get some flak about it. On the other hand I don't think its something most people would hold against you in the long term. I wont try to talk you into staying or anything but I don't see why you're leaving either. :)

Czar you can put in some good comments at times but from my stance most of what you post about the US/religion is flame bait meant to stir the pot, at least it appears so to me. Not that I care though.

I don't care what the hell your opinion is, when you begin to think you have the right to decide who deserves to live or not, even to pose the question and suggest that it is up to us to decide and when your opinion is something sick and disgusting then don't think you won't be getting flamed. If you don't want criticism, don't fscking post dumbass, especially not about something that you have no right to decide (like about the lives of others). Not everyone agrees with you in life, quit your bitching and get over yourself.

It's not the criticism, it's that certain members who feel that they are allmighty and don't have to even listen to the arguments brought up can just openly flame because they either don't like the member or the subject.

A disclaimer that me flaming you was just in fun most likely wouldn't make you feel much differently or not. Opinion or not he was playing with fire and got burned. it happens to us all :)

Opinions are like @ssholes, everyone has one.
But people that flex their opinions on others or flame someone because of a post that may suggest only 10% of their opinion, are, well, whack!

Here is my opinion, Republicans are old white haired anal-retentive straight laced pricks that have no idea what is it to live "with out"
or to be a "have-not".
you dont like it.
Eat it.

hpkeeper - although your thread p!ssed me off to no end (and I replied along those lines) I don't think its fair for people to follow you around to other threads because of it. You stayed with your thread and thats where any flaming and arguments should stay. Thats also why I never take flames to the PM level - what happens in a thread should stay there.

Besides - you shouldn't feel you have to leave over an unpopular opinion. Look at Mr. Palco, he bugs even me, and I am religious! In fact noone agrees with him really. Nor Josh about Pokemon, nor Deeko about boy bands. If they start threads about it, they dmust expect criticism. BUT, if they are elsewhere or post unrelated threads, all that should stay out.

If you post a thread like that, or post in it, with such a controvertial stance, you must expect to be criticized IN THERE. But you should not then be followed around into other threads with it.

So, although you were waaaaaaaay off in idiotland in that thread, it should stay in that thread.

OK, I'm bringing it up here because that thread is referenced by hp himself.

Beast - hpkeeper started with that statement and then left it behind - he did post his opinion very strongly several times later in that thread. Read it.

BTW, hp - calling GF and LOB thread crappers is not going to help... relax. Take a breather, step back. No one is making you leave.

hp, what else did you expect posting a topic like that? It was an emotionally driven topic with emotionally driven replys.

It wasn't so much the topic that got to me, it the fact that you kept bumping it up for your own morbid amusement.
