Why is it "usr" in unix? They couldn't afford that one extra vowel?

data was either punched in with plastic cards, or fed in through one of those gigantic magnetic tape spools.

unix was invented in the 60's, not the 40's :p

What you mean Windows is not a Microsoft invention? I'll concede that DOS isn't a Microsoft invention and that there may have been some collaboration with IBM at it's inception, but other than that I don't recall anything about Windows not being a Micro$oft product.

My point is: Micro$oft does whatever it wants.

Or how about the fact that there are too many abbrev. and TLAs in the computing realm? It's less confusing to spell things out.

Spelling things out maybe less confusing to the uninitiated, but using TLAs saves much laborious periphrasis.
