Probably because the console game company has to take its cut? And there is no standard PC maker to collect a cut.

Yup, game publishers have to pay a license fee to MS/Sony/Nintendo. Console makers typically sell the system at a loss and recoup money from game licensing fees and accessories.

PC market is smaller and less popular for certain types of games, so price has to be reduced to compete.

Because we spend hundreds more on pc's and need to save somehow :p but yes I'm glad games are cheaper on PC now usually. We are so small comapred to consoles.

PC market may be smaller, but that's really not the reason.

I'm really thinking of getting SF IV for PC then. But if there's a smaller market and it's not cross-platform, I don't want to be playing with a small userbase.

Of course it is. You cannot get around supply and demand.

PC market demand is small vs. console.

That means prices must be lower. Supply and demand will set the market price. You can't get around it.

Yep, I noticed especially on Fallout 3. The CE was $10 more on PS3 compared to PC, $5 for regular version. Glad I have the choice.
