I see them all the time. For example:

The original post was 03/09/2001 3:25 PM and up until today the last post was 10/31/2002 1:20 AM. For some reason the thread is still in an active state and not archived like all other threads. Of course this leads to people searching out these ancient threads to bump.
Just wondered if anyone had any idea what causes this.
