Why is it that the printer queue never works right when you try to delete a print job in Windows? More specifically, it never seems to delete the print job but sometimes it will say 'deleting'.

This has been my experience on both XP and Vista which makes me think its not "user error."
Any thoughts? Fixes?
 
I believe the reason is that the print job has already been sent to the print buffer in the printer and there is no standardized method for telling the printer to delete it's buffer.
