why is it that so many computer people are so negative?!?!

is it just me or have other people noticed this also? whenever you go on forums or irc or anywhere, people are just outright negative. they are so quick to put others down thinking they are superior, and they won't change their mind even if you show them evidence that 2+2 = 4 yet they still think it equals 3.

i also noticed that with people in school. so many of the people are so negative about everything. they seemed to only like one thing. for instance, if they loved *nix they would HATE windows with the passion and be so negative about it. if one did not like monty python or something, they would be so negative about people whom don't like it. if they did not like something but you do like something, they are so hard headed about the fact that 2 people can have different opinions on the same things. just like with console wars, its almost as though 1 person is not allowed to like more than 1 system.

i notice it alot with my office mate too. he's always like "blah blah pisses me off!" ... or "i hate kids!" ... or "man this person is so stupid ... they just said ... " and comments like that.

it really seems to me it is the majority of people whom have this attitude are ones who like computers and are exposed to the internet a lot. i myself don't tend to do this too often, and if i catch myself doing it i stop immediately. i know i am stubborn, but i try my best to not be. i just have always been hard headed since day one.

but has anyone else seen this?

It's the internet.
As soon as people get on a forum they become asshole moral warriors who are only concerned about themselves and their own worthless opinions.

Yes, it's because these places are disproportionately teenagers, who are notoriously arrogant and self-assured. Additionally it's because the anonymity allows otherwise invisible people to come out and let themselves be heard.

their negative because its the internet. because 15 year old timmy thats 4'6" and 88lbs can talk all the trash he wants, and you cant do shlt about it but get mad.

im usually pretty nice to everyone, just dont be an ass to me. 🙂

Ya I've noticed that a lot too, I cant stand it because I'm a very optimistic person, I'd rather see the good side or the opportunity for good in everything.

Go hang out in P&N for a while, youll leave feeling like the world will end tomorow.

lol, honda-tech.com has gotta be the most negative car forum ive ever been to.

i should find the thread im refering to.... its pretty sad.

lol well thats not necessarily true, i see alot of people on here with wives/SO's. but then again, they probably aren't the ones being all negative.

That's why most of the people on here don't have friends or have no social life.

i really hope thats not true ... i personally am only on here from work the majority of the times.

one thing that REALLY shocked me was the huge "have you ever considred suicide" thread a long time ago. i was SHOCKED at how many people had even considered that!

Check out the Dodge vs. Ford vs. Chevy truck forums. Older guys can be stubborn, closed minded, fvck tards, too. Makes for great entertainment.

well, the whole point of that thread was to ask opinions about the color. they bashed EVERYTHING, except my car.

i posted pics for my friend's car to get feedback on the paintjob..... and look at the replies. my car is the beige metallic one, my friends is the orange one.

lol. dude car forums are THE WORST. its because there are 2 ways to hook up your car:

1. Riced out
2. Subtle

car forums CANNOT have people who do both of these. these need to be seperated when it comes to car forums heh. i have been browsing VWVortex for a while (atleast i used to) becuase I did some work to my jetta. once they saw rice on there, it would be nothign but flame bait, and then EVERYONE else who replies starts to flame as well.

The color is ugly, so is the car.

Too much (false) self-assurance from the isolation brought upon by computers and the internet. For some reason they develop a superiority complex somewhere when they realize their online actions don't have (not often) consequences. They can talk smack on forums and games. They can run wallhacks and own others. It builds and builds. Nerds skip school and go online into their own world that they have constructed of content they want exposed to.

It isn't just you who has noticed this. I notice almost all of my friends who program are too self-confident to the point its hilarious. Some of them act like they are Jesus re-incarnated or something.

yea i am not talking just about people who act this way ONLINE, i'm talking about people who act like this in real life as well. like the people in my office and the people who were in my comp sci classes, and how they act in person.

I've found Monty Python and Star Wars to rouse up great passion.

I hate both and frequently get yelled at for it by other geeks 😉

It carries on to real life though. Thats just it. They build up this whole idea of themselves using the comp + internet and take it around with them. It is rather funny actually 😉

Wow man, that's pathetic (not the car, the people). I'm sure 90% of those people have much worse cars...it is a ricer forum after all.

if someone is that blunt in front of me and are in anyway attacking me with words, their getting attacked in the face by my fist of fury.
