Lola, I could go off about the people who even shop at "wally-world", but since obviously YOU shop there, I'll leave that alone. I do realize for many people, they are one of the only shopping options available.
The problem you describe isn't limited to Wally-World. Go into almost any public bathroom, and you'll find "evidence" of the Americanus Slobus. Seems to be getting worse, and it's everywhere...Also, (unfortunately) the stores that cater to the lower income people seem to have more of a problem than those that cater to the people with more money, but this does cross "class lines" and even stores like Macy's or Nordstroms get visited by the "slobs"...Wanna see BAD? I worked heavy construction for MANY years. The porta-potties on jobsites are about the worst you will ever experience.

Don't even get me started on Porta-potties. OMG. I went into one once. I left without doing anything. My sh!t was too scared to come out.

I had to pee in a Wal-Mart once. Lets just say the acrobatics needed to piss without getting someone else's piss or crap all over you would rival the sh!t Houdini did. I swear, I had to stand no more than one inch away from the door to keep the crap on the ground and seat away from me and my clothes, then just spray and pray it made it in.

I am sorry to ask this disgusting question, but anytime i go to walmart and have to use their restrooms (when you gotta pee, you gotta pee  ) it seems like all the toilets have "waste" in them...
I am so grossed out by this it is amazing. Nowhere else but walmart do i see this happening.

Is it because the people there just don't care that they are leaving something in the toilet? is it because walmart does not properly clean their restrooms? what is it?

Please help me understand why this happens... i am seriously wanting to know.

Well the bathrooms get cleaned once a day. When the store opens they are shiny. Blame the users.

** well they may send someone in after lunch to fix stuff up as well **

this is like asking why special ed kids can't fly the space shuttle. wal-mart doesn't exactly cater to the cream of the genetic crop.

I am sorry to post this but as a person that has spent half his lifetime in Western Europe and the other half in the U.S., I'll have to say it has something to with culture. People here don't care I guess. In Germany, Switzerland, etc., we'd drive through mountains and we'd stop by this restaurant in the middle of nowhere and even there the restrooms would be almost as clean as the ones at home. You could go to any supermarket (tegut, Ja, Real, Carrefour) and the restrooms would be 10x better than the average in U.S. One other thing, through all the years I lived there, I have never seen anyone exit the restroom without washing their hands, even if with just water. I am amazed here in the U.S. when people in restaurants (!!!! you are gonna eat damnit !!!!), bars, shops, and even in the office don't wash their hands. Disgusting. One last thing is the way this is approached by governments. In Germany, you can't find a dirty restroom in a government building. They'll be extremely bright, clean, water will always work, and will always have seat covers. God forbid you have to go to the restroom in a city building in NYC. Even worse? In Washington DC. Try going to the DMV. OMG, roaches everywhere in the frickin restroom, circling around someone's waste! EWWWWWWWWWWWW!

Quite true. Seems that Americans haven't been called "pigs" just for their inordinate consumerism.

There was a recent study in the U.S. that said over 70% of men <from all walk of life> that used the restroom didn't wash their hands.Big yuck. Now thanks to the OP and other posters, U.S. women are not too far behind.

At my old university (Wayne State), there was (and still is) a washroom that made me want to puke the first time I used it. It was so bad that almost everyone I knew would go to the next floor. One of the janitors used to sleep in one of the stalls (out of 2) and take candy bars in there with him. If you ever went in there, you could hear him snore while you did your business.

Same goes for most other public tiolets. What susprises me the most is that in general ladies restrooms tend to be much dirtier then men's

Having worked at a theme park, I could tell you some horror stories that female co-workers would share about the public women's restrooms.

Seriously, stories that would make your skin crawl.

You mean like the time a customer at a restaurant I used to manage, took a dump and placed it inside the liquid soap dispenser? I can't tell you how many people commented on the tan-colored soap before we figured out what had happened.

Lesson learned: Take handiwipes with you!

The unclean bathroom theme applies to maintenance as well.

I have been doing a #2 in public bathrooms countless times where a slight body twist results in your nutsack be pinched under the split front toilet seat.

A little piss on my leg is fine. A bruised ball bag is not cool...

Eff that.

Yeah, people everywhere suck at using the toilets. At least in my area (Lowell, MA) I can understand that very few of the n00b Americans ever even SAW a toilet before coming to the US. Sadly, it's usually the 'American by birth, Retarded by choice' that are leaving them a mess.

I had a seat slide completely off the toilet on me. One of the screws had rusted out, and as I was getting comortable on the seat it dumped me against the stall wall. I'm just glad the TP hanger was on the other side; prolly woulda lost an eye. Or testicle.
