Why is it that after a workout I feel so tired?

For about an hour after every workout I always feel great. By 1.5 hours, I'm so tired I have to sleep for a while just to be able to function.

My workouts are pretty tough, but nothing out of the ordinary and usually finish with 15-30 minutes of cardio.

I eat within an hour of the workout (have to get home to eat).

I understand my body would be tired after a workout, but is it normal to need to sleep just to get through the last 4-5 hours of every day?

Its because when you are working out, you are basically destroying muscle, and when it rebuilds, it basically piles on together packed closer together and tougher. This is of course a relatively slow process and your body needs to recuperate. I recommend eating some protein intensive foods to make your muscles fully regenerate stronger.

I work out all the time, and I get the same thing. Perfectly normal. Just your bod's way of telling you it needs to rest.
