Take me back to 2006/2007 where the entire page refreshed with new posts by the second.

This is how I remember it. Half the shit was JohnCU cause he was drunk posting, the other half was such threads as the AC, better Nate, bulk beef, PAB, cleaning a stain in your driveway, etc. Now I'm relying on a TridenT thread that has gone to shit since he's apparently employed. :'(

I still keep coming back though.......... :hmm:

It's cause all of the stupid subforums.

In general web forum traffic has declined as people move to platforms like Facebook, Twitter, Reddit, etc. That, in combination with a stagnation in tech innovation, has limited that amount of new stuff to talk about. It won't be long until web forums disappear like newsgroups and IRC.

I'm not happy with the change but it is rather inevitable at this point. A reversal would require a dramatic shift in the way that this place is moderated and way that users consume information on the internet.

Put beer in your coffee? Win-Win.

Coffee is an ingredient in many beers. However, beer is usually not an ingredient in coffee.

Im mostly just sad that the weekend is over and its Monday, thus at office, drinking coffee rather than beer.

It's pretty fucking pathetic that Trident is the only person that keeps this forum alive.

I've been saying this for over 5 years. It'll suffer a slow choking fate until the ad revenue isn't enough to keep the lights on the servers.

What alternatives have you found? It's hard to find a replica of the amazing user base from ~2006. New stuff like reddit doesn't match the quality and quantity of content that used to be here.

I haven't really. I don't do Facebook as it's format doesn't lend to any sort of in depth discussions. I've started dabbling in Reddit but find its forum structure infuriating with the way its comments nest. It's like going back to the original days of BBS formating and /.

We've moved on to media feeds that cater to 15 second attention spans.

Hah, you sound exactly like me. Often I feel like the old fart on the internet at 26 :/ Damn these new kids with their dubstep and the attention span of a gnat.

I would have switched to a more active site long ago if there was another one worth moving to. So I guess I'm kind of stuck here for the foreseeable future.

Yep there is definitely more discussion on Facebook, Twitter, Reddit, etc!

1) People grow up, get married and have kids (Skoorb/Yoyo looking at you), get jobs, move away, their habits and priorities change.
2) Facebook, Reddit and other forums.
3) Change of culture 3.0 is coming.
4) Banned members, lots of them.
5) AnandTech.com and forums have been sold, the future is uncertain.

Bitching about ATOT being slow is just going to make it slower. Recruit. Post clickbait. Advertise on other forums. It's the web, people...you know how to make it work.

Or you could complain that nobody wants to come here to listen to you complaining. That'll help

I suspect a lot of these damn troll accounts that have popped up over the last couple of years are a contributing factor.

If you're reading this, you know who you are.
