After reading about New York's Katz's Deli I saw that the mile high pastrami sandwich that I was drooling over was $16!

what i hate about deli sandwiches is TOO MUCH MEAT. it's disgusting the way they pile it on.
thats how i like a sammich. the chain places think 2 pieces of ham and turkey is a decent sub, when the bread is like 4" thick. crap, i tell ya.
I'm talking an actual deli sandwich, not these craptastic sub shops that are all over the place. It's like these things only exist in NYC or something, and the rest of the world doesn't have a fucking clue.
Those with good delis (and/or good mom & pop sub shops) realize how incredibly crappy Subway subs are - and how bland the food at subway is. The local butcher sent a steak sandwich up to the school for me yesterday - given a choice between a night with Jessica Alba and another sandwich like that; the sandwich would win; it was that good.
sammich AND alba. alba sammich. no other option.

Wait your wife went to Jason's Deli and you didn't have her order a Muffaletta?
Shame.
(The Rubens are good but they are no Muffaletta.)
