Why is it so difficult for some Blacks to accept that Jesus was Jewish?

What is with the idea of Black Superiority?

It is taught that the Black man is the original man and superior to the white race.

Many of their points are valid - that the whites did enslave the blacks (and others). But their topic is spreading hate. It is also true that the world is acting horribly in refusing to help Africa through it current AIDS crisis. But two wrongs don't make a right.

But aren't they forgetting a lesson of history? No race is superior. We are all one race and as soon as we act that way, humans can make some more real progress.

Any ideas? Any solution here? I know if I were black I'd be pretty angry. But going to war or blowing up the system will hurt everyone.

This thread has the potential to be highly volatile and offensive. We're leaving it open in the interest of allowing everyone to express themselves, but please tread carefully and respectfully.

If everyone would just embrace Pepe the Magical Flying Hippo as their saviour, we wouldn't need these discussions!

Actually, not the entire Bible. Firstly, through Abraham's seed was to come the means for blessing all mankind. Later, this "chosen"ness was expanded to include Spiritual Israel - those saved through Jesus' sacrifice while the Jewish natural decendends were no longer automatically included unless they acepted Jesus (which they do not accept, generally). So - NO - they are not superior.

I really don't start a lot of threads in OT (my asbestos is automatically built in - I don't mind some civilized flames as long as people think). But I really wanted to know about the justification for "Black Superiority" as popularly taught nowadays in Black culture.

Mikal, you're being condescending again...;)

I have a feeling whatever color Jesus was, this topic wouldn't interest Him very much.

I believe it has something to do with EGO? I wonder if there is such a thing as "Collective EGO"? Hmmm, Maybe a new theory?

It is not my intention to be extra contraversial. I really want to know and get opinion because I see a trend that could be really dangerous.

Again, I post to offend no one.

I am your superior and I am GOD. At least according to my wacko neighbor who thinks that everyone is god.

I don't totally agree with that statement, the stronger African tribes/leaders gathered the weaker tribes and sold them to the whites to bring over to the US.

I still disagree with slavery, but let's point the finger at eveyone, not just the white folks.

Actually Jews were "God's chosen people" to spread the Word of God but ONLY in the sense to spread God's teachings. Only recently have some Jews taken this to the next inappropriate level.

I think Jesus is a hispanic name.

On a different note...nearly all race of people have been enslaved at some point in history. Native Africans have done their own enslaving for 100's of years. Lets quit throwing stones and put the past in the past.

mitchelt, slavery is the responsibility of the white folks. They created the slave trade and made it what it was - an affront, a genocide practiced on part of the human family based on skin color.

Those in Africa, enslaving their brothers, were also guilty. However, the Europeans bear the bulk of the responsibility for creating this huge conspiracy (part of which religion is to blame) against blacks.

Well the pictures shown here in the states of Jesus are wrong. Common sense should tell you and well as everyone else, that people of the middle east are of dark complexion. The climate has not changed from bible days. Many of the Jewish folk there are actually darker than many Africans. Jesus was not a man of African descent but of Isarel. He was a Jew, but he also was clearly of dark complexion. How do I know? If they are dark today, they were dark then as well. This is silly because why reduce Jesus to mere man concerned with our hangups on race or color. And I don't think the other guy was any way pushing superiority of color over another. In way he proved his point no matter how dumb it is. I bet if you asked the one in question, Jesus himself, what he thought he probably wouldn't even answer its so stupid.

Would it make blacks 'superior' if it were conclusively demonstrated Jesus was black? Conversely, would it make whites inferior if He were not white? Reverse 'black' and 'white' in above statements and repeat.

Race and skin color are an accident of birth. Come on, it's not as if skin color is something which has to be 'earned' like a postgraduate degree. I have nothing more to be proud of for being white than i would if my genes led me to have a hairy back (which, just for the record, i don't). I would say it would be likewise if i were black.

For the same reasons, racists of all stripes are complete idiots. Hating someone for their skin color is stupid and obsessive. You might as well hate someone for having long slender fingers rather than short stubby ones.

GARBAGE.

Only in the last 250 years or so has the idea even been seriously suggested that slavery SHOULDN'T be practiced. The history of human societies - white, black, Asian, whatever - is a history of the stronger group enslaving members of the weaker group.

To attribute the idea of slavery to "white people" is amazingly ignorant. Not even a marginally educated person could entertain such an assertion.

What is the deal with people bitching about the color or religion of people such as Jesus. Who cares. It doesn't matter what color they were.
