You have boobs, and even buttocks, but why is butt referred to as singular?

e.g. you can go my left boob hurts or my left butt hurts, but you'd also go my boobs hurt and my butt hurts.

Why do we call it a pair of pants?

Actually I guess that makes sense.

Beats me. But yay for butts!

the intestines are two organs, the small intestine and large intestine. ;)
they are connected and make one long structure, but they are different.

Nonsense. If it has an "s" on the end, THERE MUST BE AT LEAST TWO OF THEM. The laws of English are not complicated and are always straightforward.
