Why is it always the white van?

Sluggo

Stopped at a stop light today, and a guy yells from the WHITE VAN, "Hey, you want to buy some big speakers for your house? They were "extras" in a delivery we made." I say "NO." He goes on blah, blah blah, all the BS he can spill in 20 seconds.

Do people still fall for this crap? I mean if guys in a WHITE VAN ask you if you want to buy something, do people really think they are going to get some kind of deal?

Is it the same white van, and they just drive from city to city?

actually, a friend of mine bought some really nice speakers from some guys in a white van... strange.... They were some awesome speakers... but something just says "stolen" about them 🙂

OMG, you mean this is a common thing? I remember a couple years ago I was stopped at a light, and this guy in a-- yup, white van! starts yelling out the window asking me if I want to buy some speakers. It was a young guy so I thought it was one of my friends or something, the light turned green and he followed me to the next light and kept bothering me. Then I realized that I didn't know the guy and he was just freaking me out, so I just ignored him. But he was really trying to flag me down and wanted me to stop. I thought he was some psycho or something, I didn't know it was actually a "sales pitch." Good to know though, better than me thinking he was trying to kidnap and kill me or something.

I was in a Wal-Mart parking lot here in Cincinnati the other day and a White Van tried to sell me speakers also!!! OMG!! This dummy put a magnetic sign on the side of it, made it look legit I guess. He followed me all the way through the lot talkin to me!!

I replied "yeah, that is usually how I buy things, I stand in the Wal-Mart lot and wait for someone in a van to approach me!!! Furnished the whole house that way............dumb@ss!!! It was actually scary for a moment, I thought he and his pal were gonna jump out and try to beat me down!!!

:Q
These guys approached my step dad about 10 years ago. He thought they were selling stolen goods so he said no. All these years I've been assuming it was just two guys that had come out from robbing a house.

a guy i know bought some kick ass speakers outta the back of a van.
they were really really good and really really cheap
he ended up reselling them for almost double what he paid.
*shrug*

*kat. <-- doesnt avocate the buying of stolen goods.

I can't believe how common this is... and after reading the 2nd link in the thread sward posted can't believe how many people fall for it. Not only would I never buy speakers from two guys in a white van, but there's no way in hell I'd even pull over or even talk to two strange guys in a white van... are people crazy? :Q

It's wierd. I mean, we're all from different places all over the US, and it's always a white van. I was approached like 3 times when I was going to school at UCLA. Always a white van. I understand that white is probably the most popular color for rental vans, or things like that, but it's always white...

I remember back in '85 or so a couple guys trying to sell me a set of speakers.. You guessed it, from a White Van. Go figure..

Awhile ago a guy in a white van chased me on and off the freeway because I decided not to buy his speakers. Yes this was an actual chase. He even got out of his car at the freeway exit and made numerous illegal turns to catch up to me. I never felt so threatened in my life. These guys are freaks!

<< i was approached by the rednecks like 3 weeks ago ,in my college campus,,,i had a friend with me ,,and he supposedly knows about speakers ,,and said it was a good deal,,,so we droped $500...same story as everyone else (for the white van, invoice etc...)....then about 3 weeks later i saw them again driving down the same area,,,so i followed them and rammed them with my SUV(thank god to brush gaurds,,,) It felt awesome hitting those phuckers,,,one of them got arested only for having a fake drivers license from out of state while the other got away,,chicago cops really didnt give a care what they were doing,,,,i feel alot better now though,,,the crap still sits in my trunk,,, >>
