Why is IE 6 so slow?

I have WinXP pro and like the fact that it's so easy to use IE6 with it. But its so slow. Like when i press back, it takes a while to go back, i know it's cached and stuff. Opera is almost instantenous. Is there a way to make it faster? I have a Athlon 1.4 with a ultra 160SCSI system, X15-36LP, power is not a problem.

hmm.. that's odd, works fine for me, 1.4GHz Athlon w/ ATA100 HD and PC2100 setup, only a 300W PSU, too...

I use 5.01 as it's fastest. If you add ad blocking, cookie management and other "proxy" stuff you will slow even 5.01 down. Since 6 has a lot of that built-in it will be slow (just a guess). Unfortunately, unlike an unbundled solution where you can take out what's causing the slowness, with 6's integration of all this stuff, you may be SOL.

Mine's not slow at all. Check your firewall protection and make sure you have all your settings configured optimally.

no problems here as well.................was your winxp a clean install or an upgrade install?.............upgrade always create some problem or the other IMO
