Aside from sexism, or the fact she is married to the guy who can't keep it in his pants, why are you guys so scared of her?

Why are they scared of her? Because she's probably smarter and more knowledgeable than most of the people who hate her. Just the same old anti-intellectual types aggravated by sexism and fear.

My personal theory is that Bill couldn't keep it in his pants because he was constantly trying to prove that his was bigger than Hillary's.

I don't have a problem with her as a person, but we need some fresh blood in the white house next term.

especially with the (albeit slight) prospects of John Bush running for president, the idea of a white house controlled by two families scares the crap out of me.

There is some truth to that theory, politics in a country such as ours should not allow nepotism to take over. That kind of defeats some of what we were fighting against in the beginning right?

I have no doubt that Hillary is a bigger man than you'll ever be.

The fact is that she doesn't have to be a man to do anything, she's electable, that is why you are scared of her, and are offering nothing more than sly comments to what I had hoped would be some well thought out explainations. Guess maybe I'm asking too much of this forum.

The real reason is that voice. Have you ever heard her yell? OMG It sounds just like that nagging wife you hoped you'd never have.

Actually I relish her getting the nomination. It will be so much fun. I might even switch parties just so I can vote for her, before I vote against her.

Well, Hillary is scary to a lot of people (though they'd never admit it) because she is a strong woman. Let's face it... we still live in a society with vestiges of patriarchy. Strong women make a lot of men uncomfortable. And many in this country (probably men and women) feel that women don't have what it takes to lead the country (and deal with other countries who are still unabashedly patriarchal).

Plenty of others dislike Hillary for her politics/record, and still others do just because bashing her seems to be the cool thing to do.

In summary, I think there are a multitude of reasons why Hillary is scary to people.

I don't think she's scary. I don't know that I would vote for her though (and it has nothing to do with her gender). I agree with loki that the democrats are in desperate need of some house cleaning. Their current offerings are stale.

Scared? Uh, no, not even close. Maybe you don't get it, but I'm talking about a perception of Hillary Clinton that is quite widespread. That perception is that she's an Alpha Male in a woman's body. Many people, men and woen alike, don't like that.

If the Dems run her for President in 2008, they will lose and lose badly. First of all, many men don't want to be told what to do by a woman (And to be crystal clear here, I don't subscribe to that attitude, nor am I defending it. I'm merely stating a fact of observation.) Second of all, many women don't want another woman telling them what to do.

You can't just say "sexism aside" because it's a primary factor in this matter.

I can understand your reasoning, and yes it'd turn into a huge gloatfest if she was defeated. I on the other hand support her politics (more or less), but I have to admit I'd just love to see a woman as president. My society was led by men, but at the end of the councils they'd still have to ask their wives if they thought it was a good idea. The women held the power of veto, you might say. I fear if she ran, sexism would become mainstream and that in and of itself is dangerous.

I wouldnt say I'm "scared" of her, but if you are asking me why I do not wish to see her suceed in politics, my answer is:
-I disagree with her stance on health care
-I disagree with her stance on the tax code
-I disagree with her stance on gun control
....
....
....

Basically, I disagree with her stance on the overall role of the federal government, and have a hard time finding issues that I agree with her on. Personally, I think that is enough of a reason to want to see her fail in politics.

yes the perception of her as a strong woman would probably damage her campaign. i guess this thread is my way of calling people out on that perception. apparently we have a long way to go, before we can call our country free. women have proven themselves throughout history to be as take charge and capable as men even as the leader of the most power nations on the planet.

She is the powerful wife of a ex Democratic president. That is why. Plus she says a lot of stuff that tweaks the right wingers

Nothing in my statement indicates that I don't believe women are every bit as capable as men to take the lead and take charge. My current boss is a woman and she is, without a doubt, the best manager and administrator I've ever had. She manages while still retaining her femininity though. She has no need to adapt masculine ways to properly do her thing. She doesn't have to pretend she's a man or overcompensate for her testosterone levels to be effective. That's what I respect.

Let's not fool ourselves. A man is a man and a woman is a woman. I don't want to see them blended into one. The unisex trend died in the 80s and deserves to remain buried.

Hillary is WAY far out in left field. She is what is known as a communitarian. This is someone who borrows from social-democratic socialism with conservative social leanings, and wants the government to enforce both.

Exactly...if anyone's scared of her, it's not conservatives.

As a moderate, realist democrat, I'm pretty scared that the left would rather give her the nomination and see her lose than field a truly electable candidate

Yep, she's not scary to me, but she shares the whole "polarizing" title with GWB.

I disagree with virtually every policy she supports and will never forget when she hit the talk shows ranting about the right wing conspiracy to de-throne Bill... (of course there was a right wing conspiracy, but it was impolite to talk about it)

My cousin that works for the State Dept said she (Hillary) used to hitch rides with M Albright & have secret meetings with foreign heads of state, my cousin met her like 1/2 dozen times overseas... Yet another reason I can see WJC as Sec Gen of the UN.

*sigh*

Sorry, nice try. If you are going to publicly call him out as a troll and such you need to have something to back it up. Otherwise, your claims are simply bogus. If you don't have any solid reasons to disparage him I'd think you'd just refrain from doing so.

Anyway, you don't seem to really want to back your allegations up. Next time you yell troll on the boards without any reason just remember that you're the real trull here.

Hehe, yeah the "vast right wing conspiracy" is real, but so isn't the "vast left wing conspiracy." :) (I know because I'm an official member of the lefty version.)
