Why is Healthcare stocks up in the wake of ObamaCare?

As of 12/2/11:
my healthcare mutaul fund is up 9% ytd.
the dow is only up 3.8% ytd.

Why are healthcare funds thriving in the shadow of Obamacare?

because despite what the republitards and the anti-government idiots on this forum want you to believe.... The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act is not a bad thing. Infact, it's a good thing for alot of people.

i'm a liberal and i think obamacare is shite. it started off as something good that was going more towards the focus of HEALTH care rather than sick care, but by the time it got passed, it was transformed into this bullshit law giving insurance companies way more power than ever before and completely centered around sick care rather than health care.

"Healthcare" is up because the baby boomers believe that anything can be fixed with a scan and a pill. That's why Rx drug costs are the single largest component of healthcare cost increases and diagnostic services are top-3.

This is so true. My grandmother lost her foot because she didn't want to do the physical therapy required to improve her circulation problems -- she just wanted to take a magic pill and get better. The PT was too much work. I still shake my head at that. She used to complain so much because she wasn't getting better, and curse the doc for not giving her the right medication.

Certain things just aren't going to be fixed with a special cocktail of chemicals.

Obamacare, like most liberal programs, require vast numbers of middlemen. In this case, the middlemen are the healthcare companies that make up your mutual fund (equipment manufacturers, EMR developers and integrators, insurance companies and brokers, etc.)

That's the fault of the patient not the medicine. What would the results have been if she were on insulin and stopped that and took PT? It's more complicated than either/or.

That's because they had to pacify the Blue Dog Democrats (aka Dinos) to get on board so they had to substantially water it down to fuck over consumers more.

when everyones a customer by law, you just raise the rates on everyone to make up for the 'unprofitable' ones.

this 'protection' comes at a cost that you, I and everyone else will be paying for.
