I like golfing. It's fun, and good exercise. I don't like paying so much to play it though. Golf courses way overcharge. Best price I found on golf520 was $45, and that was after 3 pm. F that. I think something more along the lines of $15-20 sounds right. Is there any way I can get a big discount for golfing?

I've been thinking about sneaking on a course and playing. I doubt most courses would notice, unless they were real fancy. Worth a shot? :p

probably because golf has been historically a rich man's sport and is very exclusive. probably just a hold over from those days.

Nice thing about living in the sticks (or maybe it's Michigan in general), low green fees ($10-15).

Never snuck onto a course before, so I couldn't tell you how easy it is. Wouldn't be able to get a cart, though.

Have you ever thought how much it COSTS to maintain a world class golf course?

In my area there are 4 gov't owned courses that are only 20 bucks a round to play.

My uncles own a full length 18 hole golf course, the expenses are astonishing, thats why they have to charge so much.

The last time I played golf there was 3" of snow on the ground, everyone played with safety-orange painted balls, had a single iron and a flask of our choice.

We did that three years running, on the first decent snowfall.... called it the Snowball Classic.

Ah, the good old days :p

I'm guessing you've never played? :p - It's not like playing soccer or something but it is definitely good exercise. Esepcially when it's 100+ degrees out.

If you don't use a cart or a club puller, you are still lugging around 20+ pounds of stuff for a solid 3-4 miles. If the average fat ass did that 5 days a week instead of shoving a cheesburger down their throat while they watch TV the obesity problem would be greatly minimized.

It's not the same as vigorous biking or running, but it's a hell of a lot better than nothing at all.
