Dear moronite, please see list of taxes by state--they do not explain the price of gas.

Wyoming 2nd lowest tax in the lower 48.

Got any other dumbass comments?

Explain Georgia then.

I'm not sure, but is it possible that GA is still in a tight supply situation due to post katrina effects?

Could be, but looking at this chart, it looks like ga imposes a 4% sales tax on top of a 7.5 cents state tax and 18.4 cent federal tax. so as the price goes up, the state makes more per gallon.

Well, I've got some that will make you eat your words--learn some math.
Look at the tax for NJ, and then look at the total cost for each state.
WY: 32.4 cents tax
NJ: 32.9 cents tax

(The above link is also three years more up to date than the one you posted.)

Reverse pwnage baby, yeah!

Anybody with an ounce of common sense would see that the tax rates don't directly correlate to the price at the pumps. A 5-20 cent tax difference does explain the extra 30-50 cents at the pump.

While the tax differences state to state are a part of the equation, they obviously don't tell the entire story.
