Why is FSAA in Cs soo darn ugly?

I have it set to 2x2 (not lod bias, the highest one) in open gl, but yet the edges still look like crap. Is it because Cs tends to be a brighter game? I've played with 2x2 (lod bias) in q3a and it looks beautiful. But what's up with counterstrike? Will the FSAA settings in direct3d look any better?

while deeko is partly right, another reason why it looks like sh!te is because you are playing CS. CS never looked good 🙂

Forget FSAA and just just jack up your resolution.

btw, THIS IS MY 201TH POST!!! SENIORITY BABY!!! They should have some sort of thread that acts sorta like an award ceremony when members go up to the next tier. 😉

how good can i run a p3 933 with a voodoo5?

i have a v3 2000 and i dont go higher that 800x600 cause on q3, too many rockets will give me a slow down

bigbootydaddy, I play Q3 @ 1024x768 with all settings maxed with a V5/Tbird 800@840. I average around 75 fps, I think(I don't benchmark that often).

<< Forget FSAA and just just jack up your resolution. >>

a) 1024x768 w/ 4x FSAA looks better than 1600x1200
b) Some people with cheap 17" monitors can't go past 1280x1024
c) Increasing the resolution decreases jaggies, but does not reduce pixel popping

If this thread disappears, it probably has been moved to video, if anyone was wondering 🙂

3DFX V5 5500 owners also get to fiddle with Level of Detail(LOD)🙂

The colors are richer with the V5, it's damn stable, and works with every game. Perfect card🙂

heh, i dunno what your talkin bout, 4xfsaa in CS looks pretty good to me... better with than without, thats for damn sure

I've found FSAA makes the pictures smoother, not crisper....was it supposed to make it crisper?
I prefer crisper myself, therefore I play with FSAA off.
It's not ugly.

Maybe you need a Radeon or OpenGL 😀

Well, i upped the rez to 1024x768 with the highest Opengl FSAA settings, and it looks okay, but not great. I also tried direct3d, but it ran like crap. Oh yeah, sorry about the wrong forum thing, i totally forgot until after this thing was posted.
