Why is fresh fruit better in the winter?

Oh man.. The fruit is so good this time of year. I just bought some Oranges and Strawberries that are perfect! The apples are great too! In the summer, the Oranges are all dried up and sour. The Apples are mushy and the Strawberries are tart.
