Why is Force Unleashed 2 only $40?

It's $40 at Gamestop and Steam, the console versions are $60. I would expect this from a game like Darksiders since it's an older game that was later ported to the PC. But FU2 is a simultaneous release, and seems to me, a major one, so I was expecting it to be $49.99-$54.99. Oh well more money for me.

PC games are always cheaper because they are more awesome like that.
Also, console fanboi's are willing to pay more.
Economics and stuff.

I bought FU1 on the latest steam sale ($2.50 i think??) anyway, it looks worse than JK:Outcast. . . which was on the q3 engine . . . released like 5 years ago.

I was excited about the original, but then I read the reviews. I can only imagine the 2nd one is much like the first.

Ive been playing it on the 360
Decent enough... console games like that are just so "dumb" though... it's mindless.
The interesting thing is it seems all these Star Wars games A) look better B) have better story lines and C) are more interesting than all 3 of the prequels.

Play the first one on wii and it was OK... Having said that, I am a bit of a Star Wars Fan. I think it's probably more fun on the wii than the PC. I only usually play PC games with this being the exception and Mario Kart.

I played maybe an hour or two on the PC and while I think it's a shitty port, the gameplay is not so bad - pretty reminiscent of god of war. fairly mindless fun so far. controls are absolutely terrible though, I'm seriously considering getting a 360 controller for my PC.

Software distribution on PCs is much less restricted than consoles, less paperwork / bureaucracy to deal with and no licensing fees to create an application for the platform.

That and console players are willing to pay more for sucky titles than PC gamers.

FU1 had a great story and so-so gameplay. According to reviews it looks like FU2 has improved gameplay but so-so story. Maybe FU3 will have a good story and good gamplay.

fwiw, I enjoyed the first one despite its flaws.

The first one wasn't bad, it just wasn't good. Control wasn't too bad except for the fixed-camera fights (bosses). Throwing things was funny sometimes, too. Biggest issue for the first one is it runs like crap without the patches. That and I found a lot of the combos completely useless. The story was cool, though.

Dead Rising 2 is also only 40$ on the PC. This is a prett nice trend, I've been buying some console games for my PC lately and just using a 360 controller to play them. It's overall a smoother experience and looks a lot better than the console versions, plus I don't really miss my big TV since I have a big IPS monitor lol.

I think some of these companies may be realizing that PC gamers aren't going to eat up console ports at 60$, maybe they're actually lowering their prices due to low demand.

yup, basically the same reason Ghostbusters was released for bargain bin pricing on the PC while console gamers had to pay more. Granted console gamers got extra perks such as co-op that PC gamers did not.

some of these console based games released for PC almost require a control, I mentioned Ghostbusters before and its mouse controls are atrocious, the game was definitely designed from the ground up to be used with a controller and very little effort put into the PC controls.

The consoles are usually sold at at loss the first years and thus the cover that loss with higher games prices.

Thought that was common knowlegde?

the first one bombed and hit the lower price point way early. I suppose since they know that this one is equally shitty, might was well start off at a lower price point and hope for more sales at launch?

Force Unleashed was a terrible game. I only played it cus it was Star Wars. I have no idea why they made a sequel.

If they wanted a great story AND great gameplay, they would make KOTOR 3 instead of turning it into an MMO and making beat-um-up console ports!! (Sorry, my pet peeve that KOTOR was never finished.)

I did try the first FU game, but just could not get into it. In the absence of a good single player RPG (KOTOR 3) I would prefer another Battlefront or Republic Commando game to this.

P.S. Does this game require outrageous hard drive space like the first Force Unleashed game?? I still might give the game a try if it got really cheap and did not take up so much hard drive space.

Well I just read some reviews and I understand now why it's only $30-$40, in fact that's too much, Darksiders and and Dead Rising 2 were actually very good games and they were priced the same. I might pick it up any way when it hits the bargain bin, which I imagine would be soon.

On a side note, why does this mediocre game continue to get sequels while Republic Commando does not?

kinda funny, the model and voice actor for Starkiller is the vampire on the new US remake of the hit UK show Being Human

http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1022429/

Vampire Jedi anyone? now there's a game

Please no! We already have enough games being made that are garbage and are being made canon.... The last thing we need is for some crappy video game writers (because face it, if they were decent writers they'd be writing books) destroying what little Star Wars has left.

Also, +1 to Republic Commando and Battlefront sequels. Shit, I'd even take a Rogue Squadron sequel.
