Why is flatscreen CRT so much better than round CRT?

It's still a CRT, is it because you get less glare off a flat surface?

Viewing angles are much improved because you are actually looking across a flat surface instead of one that has a hump in the middle.

You also don't have the distortion caused by the rounded corners.

Mostly what makes most flatscreens better is that they're aperture grill. AG monitors have MUCH higher brightness, deeper blacks, and the colors are more vibrant. But on the bad side is that they're not as sharp as shadowmasks(bowl screens). This is simply due to the pixels only being seperated vertically. Therefore, vertically, it's EXTREMELY sharp, but horizontally, it's a lot more blurry, especially with a higher brightness level. That's why AG screens usually come with a button on the front that allows you to change brightness modes very easily.
