Weird, it shows up and you can click it fine then awhile later the asterisks take over.So wait, is it or isnt it? It shows up as *****'s for me...
and if so, why?
I think the admins should be a little more transparent about things like this :hmm: Kind of like how they tried to sneak the detonate(?) links past us, not cool. But mostly I'm just curious.
Surprised? It's typical of him.quick to accuse without knowing any of the real facts...hmmmmm

and honestly, i have no idea why they would spam the site, its a well respected publication...
It's not a big deal and I certainly am not opposed to AT making money (I'm one of the users who would be happy to see a return of user paid forums), I just think that transparency doesn't hurt. Just as a quick side note, when the referral links were first implemented (before the sticky thread, although not intentionally) they were causing some major problems with the forums and broke lots of links. They have been up and down intermittently since.Did they? I thought I saw the sticky for the referral links before I saw the referral links. Regardless, is it a big deal to insert a referral into links you post? It doesn't hurt your link. The only reason I could see that it would bother someone is if they are opposed to Anandtech making money off the forums.

Agreed. I searched & seem to have found the answer. We have received a ton of spam from /blog at that domain. A well respected publication should not have spammers spamming out pharmaceuticals from their domain. The burden is on them to clean up their domain, not on us to remove spam after spam linking to their site.
Uh... no. They never snuck links past us and that's what he means. There were stickies about them. If you missed it then that's your own fault.
Those stickies didn't show up until a few days after the redirects.
